The Genre of Dystopia
The EXPLOSION of the dystopian genre in the 21st century is because the two World Wars were still pretty fresh in peoples' minds. So, some guy probably got around to thinking "hey, we could make a lot of money off of the sorrow of others, lets write books about the apocalypse." Well, this random guy didn't know what he was in for, because now there are such famous classics like Fahrenheit 451, and The Hunger Games trilogy. Teenagers like these books because it sort of relates to the turmoil of their everyday life. They believe that everyone seems to have a better life than them (or at least from my experiences), and that their life is a dystopia of terrible events. The Giver showcases a dystopian society very well, as the fact that their lifestyle and society are extremely different than ours. Some games are also set in dystopian societies as well. Games such as Deus Ex and pretty much ever game that involves zombies is a dystopia.

I think you have some very well thought out points about why teens like dystopian literature. Good thinking. 15/15
